Queenstown Stobie Pole Gallery

Stobie Poles are a uniquely South Australian invention that is seen all over the state as well as a few other locations across Australia. Industrial in nature, and often referred to as an eye-sore, they are 2 steel rails with a concrete infill.
In recent years, they have been getting a make-over all across the state as artists grab some house paint and throw on a splash of colour. These artists range from renown artists to primary school students, and the art ranges from fine art to modern artand often naive art.
The above map shows a virtual tour of a Stobie Pole Gallery in the suburb of Queenstown, in Adelaide, SA. All of the painted poles except one, were painted by a local artist, Brad Jamieson in 2020. Permission was gained from SAPN (the owners of the poles) and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield who administer public art projects such as this. A thank you goes out to the Port Enfield Council for assistance with paint and anti-graffiti coating.
